Question by msbroker911: what are the requirements for starting a home hair salon?
The salon I work at closed down. I have a small group of clients I would like to keep but rather than looking to work at another salon, I thought I would turn one of my rooms at home into a small salon. Can somebody advise me of the requirements to do this. I want to do it right. Do I need a business license or permit? How about special liability insurance? The business would be in Los Angeles County if that helps.

You will definitely need a business (retail license), liability insurance, etc. Call the county courthouse (business licensing department) for specific details.

My sister is a stylist and the first thing that you do is go to school, not college but a hair school, she had to drive 45 minutes every morning to get there but she did and now she is the most popular stylist in our county.
